Coll Half Marathon

I got this through from the organiser of the race asking me to post something for the race ... it looks like it could be a good event, including a pasta party on the Friday night and a ceilidh on the Saturday. Download more info about Coll Half Marathon here.

The Half Marathon is certainly a welcome boost for the local economy and local runners but I must express concern for anyone wanting a flat course.

There is streches of the course on sand and the typical strong winds expected on the course will probably play a role.

Although you are always guaranteed of a top 10 position for sub 1hr 30min runners the long travel arrangements have always put me off going over. My friend from Giffnock won a race on one of the islands in 1hour 17min last year.

Its best to check the weather forecast before making the long trek to the island to avoid dissapointment. The best races to do for competition are Alloa, Balloch to Clydebank, Stranraer and the Nationals at Dunfermline.
