National Cross Country Relays

1983 22nd october

The relays (4 x 2½) were held at the Jack Kane centre in Edinburgh. Course through varied terrain - football pitch, stubble, soft paths, weather dry but chilly. Course reasonably dry underfoot.

The following extract is typical of the spectrum within the pre-race attitude of 'the club':

W.S.******* "You have to sprint the first mile then hang on"

A.C*.****** "I hang on for the first mile then fall back"

After a chase from the boys of the Hares and Hounds through the luxury surroundings of the JK Centre and near molestation of an innocent female on the omnibus the gentlemen repaired to the Cafe Royale of Edinbra'. Genuine stunning ale was the order of the day.

The first committee meeting was held therin those present were: Donohue, Logue, Campbell, Sheridan. It was agreed:

i) a club newsheet would be produced and distributed by logue

ii) a full list of club members will be produced by donahue

iii) a club chritmas card will appear (communal effort)

T Donohue 14.52

T Logue 14.47

D Calder 14.40
