Carnethy 5
Another great day out at this classic with some solid runs from the guys earning us third team spot -- unfortunately they only gave prizes for first and second teams !!
A better venue for the Ceilidh this year with plenty of inter-club interaction ;-)

What a really excellent display from ALL the Westies at this year's Carnethy race. Undoubtedly some very memorable runs! Could this be the comeback of Damon? Team prizes are beckoning!

After some technical gloops I have at last got the first summer league positions posted. A superb race was had at Carnethy on Saturday with a few performances worthy of mention - Damon had a stonker near the front in his comeback after giving birth to twins.Ronnie was down a bit on his usual performances ,but we can safely put that down to over training again. Nigel put in a tremendous shift to gub me (with my cold cough cough!)and Jon Slowe proved he's anything but on the hills with a fine time closely followed by Chris. The first 4 bagged a very credible 3rd team over all ,considering Borrowdale and Carnethy were the competition and that gives us 2nd place in the SHR Champs - hopefully the same effort can be maintain at Screel on 27th March which is the next counter.
Further back ,defending champ Don grumped across the line ,Gary I suspect was just out for a jolly ,and Keith nearly got a fright from Donald Smith who produced a great time. Big Al trundled in muttering something about losing his "edge" since moving to Skye.
The Wummin got off to a promising start ,with 6 completing the course ,Ana putting in a solid run and stating her intentions in the league by gubbing Elsie by a couple of minutes.Val & Liz had a tight tussle but Val came out on top ,(oooh!) by only a few seconds. Clare says she found the going tough in what was her first hill race ,but to be honest didn't look too distressed at the finish !?
The dynamic duo of Drew and Pat took up the rear of what was a good Westies pack with some fine results.
Note:Campbell Clark is a spy ,so no points. Brian Brennan is a pie so no points ! (he gave his number to someone much much much faster than him trying to steal extra points ,but Cpt. Chuck has the photographic evidence that he was up the hill about 20 mins before the race started !! Nice try pie man.
See you ALL again at Bishophill (7th)& Screel(27th)
