Crieff 10K

Memories, Memories, Memories.

Only one Westerlands CCC athlete made it to this years event and what an event it was and that was before the race even commenced.

Looking at the clock this morning at 9am I decided to do it but wasn't sure what time it might be this year. Skidding across the park at high speed at exactly 10.50am someone from Dumbarton AC shouted the "race is gonna start in 10 min mate."

F"?*K ..what????

With a transition similar to that of a top ironman triathlete and quick exchange of legal tender my number was obtained and even had time for a quick "you know what". In the toliet someone I knew said "let him in first he is a good runner".

Don't you love it? Look what you are missing these days Dave!!!!

Anyway the race started at a furious pace and climbed to the usual 250m summit before dropping back down to the finish.

Although the hill was high for trail standards, it was certainly mild compared to Moffat which was like running up a mountain in a pair of slippers.

I finished 8th despite no warmup and cramp from the bike journey. Gave it my best and scraped under 39 in 38.56min which is good compared to last years time of 40.15min. The class of field was much better this year with a few Cambuslang and Calderglen to spice up the pace, for which we later paid the price. First boy was in 35 min dead.

Nigel you missed a cracker.
