Hi, I'm a six year old Westie and I chew my paws in anguish as I watch good runners leave me behind. Can anyone suggest how I can stop this?

Well last week was Linwood no more and for a few Westies on Saturday there, it is now Lairig no Mor. Personally, having suffered this glen twice at the end of the WHW race, I thought it time to exorcise the demon and actually see if I could run from Kinlochleven to Fort Bill as opposed to a painful trudge through the night. Another five intrepid Westies in the shape of Ana, Liz, Chris U, Steffen and JD decided that they preferred the vistas of Glen Nevis as opposed to dodging the drunks in downtown Renton on a Sunday morning (sorry Dave), so we headed north. No problems in meeting up and getting to Mamore Lodge and what luxury to get 50p change from a quid for a race entry fee, you could tell this event wasn't SAF/SAL sanctioned. Vaselined up and ready to rock and roll by 12, one thing sticks in my mind, well Chris's actually. The organiser tells us all to follow the WHW all the way to FW and in particularly emphasises to the Lochaber runners, no short cuts near the end, obviously with better local knowledge than us southerners.
So we all kick off and go steady and the not so good forecast is itself, not so good, and we enjoy pleasant running conditions and the odd bright spell. Chris is quickly gone with the front runners, followed further down the line by Steffen and then JD and yours truly further back. Liz and Ana enjoy a slowish start, admiring the views that they haven't seen before.
Anyway, let's cut out the middle bit. I never see hide nor backside hair of any Westie again, have a good wee battle with Jimmy Stewart of WHW race organiser fame and not the great actor, he beats me, fek, and I get in under the 2 hours like I wanted. John is standing at the finish and informs me that Chris did a 1.40, Steffen and him a 1.47 and now it's just a case of waiting for the lassies. Of course I assure John that Liz won't like the course and that she'll be at least 2.5 hours. Just to show me up and not like last week, Liz has had stitch no more and her and Ana trot in looking refreshed under the 2 10 mark. All happy with our runs, we head for scran but Chris is that nauseous after his efforts that he can't even eat his soup -- or was it to do with the fact that having been sitting nicely in 6th place all the way, the leading lady took a short cut near the end and over took him -- cheating LAC gits !!
How did all our other troops go in the High Peaks and Glen Tress 3 ???
