Tom Scott 10 mile road race

As an antidote to the 8½ hr day's solo hill bagging on Saturday in the remotest backcountry of Sheet 25, I decided to partake in the delights of Lanarkshire road running on Sunday.

Drew was running the Tom Scott for the 18th consecutive year, and Mark turned up after a 2-hour battle with central Scotland's integrated public transport system.

Apparently it's the last "Tom Scott" race in its current format. The police aren't happy about people running along the roads. It's dangerous, and there's no excuse for it.

I shuffled round with a dodgy hamstring in just over the hour. Mark had a great run, knocking two minutes off his previous time and narrowly beating 1st lady, Trudi Thomson. Drew was enthusiastic as ever, and strangely appears as a Lady Vet 35 in the results.

An OK course combining more downhill than up, a fine collection of roundabouts, and a scenic finish at Strathclyde Loch.

1 Stephen Wylie 48.25

14 Mark McColl 55.56

50 Chris Upson 62.22

141 Drew Turnbull 75.58

182 runners
