Heroic Run By JD As The Rest Make A Hash Of It

Here are the long awaited results from the Westies Road Race Handicap at Croftamie on 3rd September. John Donnelly is definitely trying to make this race his own, although one does have to grudgingly admit that he put in a class run. Setting off at the same time as Dave, he quickly opened his legs to show his class, leaving Dave in his wake and catching Gibbie before the half way mark. Steffen put in a valiant performance and was only caught a mile from the end when he had to stop as there was no way past the two cars on the single track road ahead. Rumours that John had made prior arrangements with the drivers cannot be substantiated, although the "Hash House Harriers" stickers on the back windscreen may just be a give away. Mark McColl also made a brilliant effort to catch John, but couldn't sustain his first half performance and ended up in 3rd place behind Steff.

The also rans included Gibbie in 4th place followed by Graeme, Dave (running like a haddie), Val (1st wumman), Muffy, Drew, Ian(warming up for the Great Scottish Run), Pat and Ana ( struggling after injury but at least complimentary about the trail marking).

So. well done John; enjoy it while it lasts. It will be some time before you're first Westies again!

It's a great wee race (wee???? at almost 8 miles???). Thanks also to Nigel, Charlie, Isobel, Margaret for their help and cheers.

The best bit of the evening was the curry back at Liz and Charlie's. Thanks to them for allowing us to stain their furniture.
