Rothbury, Northumberland.

A rather tortuous 2 and a half hour drive in the rain, was followed by a rather tortuous 1 and a half hour run in the rain. 88 mad fools turned up to samle the thick hill fog and leg-sucking bog. Quite enjoyable in a funny sort of way.

The picturesque section following the tinsel through the forest was rendered slightly less picturesque this year by the fact that it was pitch dark in the wood. Quite scary making sure you didn't get hopelessly lost. Lost a place on the final track/road section, but otherwise had a reasonable run, knocking almost 5 minutes off last year's time, despite conditions being considerably worse.

Good homemade soup in the Newcastle Hotel after.
