Bolton-by-Bowland Fell Race
1st December
8 miles. 800ft.
Bolton-by-Bowland. Picturesque village. Deepest darkest Lancashire. Very soggy underfoot. Some of the boggiest surface I've ever attempted to run on. More of a cross-country than a fell race proper.
In fact more like an "It's A Knockout" mud bath than a cross-country. All it lacked was Stuart Hall wheezing with laughter.
Adrian Davis of Fife ran away from the rest of the field, but threw away a 100m lead by taking a wrong turn, and came in third.
1. Graham Schofield, Horwich 49:31
2. Peter Brittleton, Howgill 49:41
3. Adrian Davis, Fife AC 49:44
24. Chris Upson, Westies 54:50
25. Tricia Sloan, Salford 54:58 (1st Lady)
151 runners.
