There was a fantastic record turnout of 171 finishers, including 15 Westies! And how many Westies roadies were at the Uni Road race?! Here starts the campaign to re-name us Westerlands Hill Runners, or at the very least Westerlands Harriers?!

Ex-Westie Mark Rigby won the race in 32m 09s and Tracy Brindley had a great run to equal the course record in 7th place in 34m 52s. Ronnie ran in his heavy duty winter climbing boots - apparently trying to break them in ! Chris U. had a great run to finish as 1st Westie , Don flew past me on the descent to finish 2nd. Jane was 1st woman Westie and Ana enjoyed ( I think ! ) her first Tinto race , Stevie Bell made a welcome return. Blair and Nigel shouted abuse and encouragement. A fine dry afternoon. Weather was great, conditions a bit muddy down at the bottom though. All in all a great race and day out. Tracey Brindlay equalled the ladies record set by Angela Mudge in 1996.
