Hugh Wilson Memorial 10k 2

Here is my account of an eventful day at East Kilbride.

Got the East Kilbride Train at 12.42pm running each hour apparently and arrived at East Kilbride at 1.17pm. Just enough time to sprint along the road and to the registration for 1.40pm and got changed.

Great. Got 15min before the bloody start!! And there was a small que at the registration!!

My left arm looks like I have been mauled by a tiger at present. Took the first left corner really sharp and rubbed against the thorned hedges. Hey!! And where were the showers too??

I actually went extremely well up to the 7k mark and had about a min lead on Super Brian at that point and looked back to check up on things. Felt good and was beating all my rivals and thought I had the race in the bag.

But went through a horrible patch from there onwards and Brian caught me and finished around 10-20sec round the track I think. Legs felt fine etc but been really tired and unwell recently and just managed to get out of bed this morning to see Charlie's brother.

Brian is looking real strong at present but doesnt have the sparkle (all due respect!!) but he says he is working on this and will be improving his speed sessions. 2 mins off your 10k time in my opinion however fully deserves a wee dram or three!!!

It was great to see so many Westies today too and wished I could have stayed to say hi etc.

I personally thought the course was quite tough and the over passes and under passes required some techical skill and I nearly got inpailed on the raillings after descending too fast.

Brian, you got it easy this time!!!!......Well Done!!

Even if I did make it to the dinner, Brian would have been rubbing his hands with delight!!
