Three Shires
4000ft 21/9/02
Decided to forgo the pleasures of Morven and Merrick, and opted instead for the Lakes' Three Shires. A typically busy Lakeland scene.
Race starts (and ends) in picturesque hamlet of Little Langdale. Speedy start downhill on tarmac, than along farm tracks till steep rough climb up the north side of Wetherlam. Good ridge to Swirl How, then fast descent to Three Shire Stone on good surface. Slog up Pike O'Blisco. Rough descent to Blea Tarn. Rocks and bracken. Final sapping climb up Lingmoor before flagged run out to Little Langdale.
