Jura Fell Race
A tremendous race. Just a pity more Westies didn't turn up for it, with only myself and Murdo bearing the famous "W".
Having never climbed the Paps before I found the prospect pretty intimidating. Especially seeing as all the tops were in mist. I managed to stick with Murdo till almost the top of the 2nd Pap, but then trailed a bit and got hopelessly off line on the descent, dropping into a horrendous shifting boulder field well to the left of where I should have been. Over the 3rd Pap and Corra-bheinn I did all I could to catch up, but was pretty much burnt out by the final 3 mile road section.
Angela Mudge broke the 14 year old Ladies record. Kate and Ben Jenkins put in a good performance for 2nd Lady and 1st dog respectively! Dave Cummins timed it well for his sub 4 hour engraved whisky glass with a time of 3:59:59!
A great race, and great atmosphere. For one weekend only you have an island living and breathing a hill race!
