Carnethy 5
Cacking sunny day with cold wind. Helly top vest and leggings. Went off slow and steady. This is my first run for a month. Stayed relaxed on the steep climbs up Scald Law and West Kip. Brilliant views all around. Managed to keep up the pace between hills and probably gained a steady stream of places all the way around. Still had something left for the big climb up Carnethy (unlike last year when I blew up).
Tom Ross had been keeping close to me all the way round and had caught up with Jenny Rae. I had to pass Tom before the summit to create a safety gap for the descent and finish sprint and made sure I put space between Jenny too. On the descent the run across the field to the line was hard. I kept looking over my shoulder waiting on Tom or Jen to sprint by but fortunately it didn't happen. Pleased to beat Tom and quite happy with my time and effort, but more pleased at enjoying it.
