Glasgow Parkrun #145, aka Westies Chariot Race
5th November
It was supposed to be Chariots at dawn for Steffen, Johannes, Andy and Rob, but Johannes cried off with man flu, so Ana stepped into the breach. With man-in-form Johannes laid low with the lurgy, the field was wide open. Fastest buggy on the day was Steven Prentice of Bellahouston Harriers with Henry plus Baby Jogger in 21:23.
Westies results:
83. Andy and Oli Edwards, 22:48
115. Steffen and Claudia Gorgas, 23:59
253. Rob and Iona McQuater-Houston, 30:58
259. Ana and Beatrice Courtial-Talbot, 31:26

Well done all! I had no idea people did this, but I think it's nice that they do...

You are so out the loop Alasdair, did you not know that there is an Annual GP circuit of this stuff - the next outing is a week on Saturday - up the side of Dumgoyne. Like the saft Euro (soon to be no Zone) folk, it's an uphill only buggy event. In the name of Health&Safety we can't come back down the hill because if someone does a John Juantily descent and let's go, then the pram may do a huge loop the loop and hit the Distillery - and then we are all up in a cloud of vapour...
...breath it in, it works wonders for Colds... :-)

I think it's all rather silly, you know! Would never have happened in the old days!
And, has anyone else noticed that the fastest competitors are those with the shortest name-combination. If only it had been around 20 years ago, me and oor James would have given Andy and Oli a run for their money. Why, it would almost have been worthwhile shortening his name to Jim! Then we would have whupped their smooth, nappy-clad bottoms.
