Glasgow 10k (Lesser G.S.R.)
A lovely sunny Sunday morning, and big crowds of runners on the trains into town. A mass of humanity of all sizes and ages descended on George Square for the 9.30am start, banishing the last traces of zombies. We were sent on our way by ageing legend Daley Thomson. The first km is the toughest, as the crush of runners sorts itself out on the climb up St Vincent St. As we crossed the Kingston Bridge (nice touch, that!) drivers tooted encouragement. This guy Adrian commented on my "economical" running style - I also drew his attention to the Reebok zipper slippers to save weight, and the bandaged left mitt - before he pushed ahead. The Asian DJ show at 8k gave me a shot in the arm, plus their comment "It's downhill fae here boays!" So I cudgeled the old legs into action, reeling in a number of runners (including aforementioned Adrian), but just missed my target of 50 mins. I didn't see Chaz at any point, but results show that he finished OK in what would have been a highly respectable half-marathon time! Finally, a huge thanks to Pat for chumming me round Croftamie last Wednesday, and so convincing me I could last out Sunday's race.Posted by Graeme Orr on Mon 5 Sep 2011 | 3 comments

Sounds like you had a good race.
I did the greater of the two and struggled a lot with the "heat" and all the other runners around me.
Still a good workout.
Daley started our race as well. To my shame I must say that I did not know who he was. Looked him up now!
