Carnethy Midweek Hill Race
After a week of rest it was great to get out for a race. This low-key race starts in the same field as the Carnethy 5 but instead of heading to Charlie's Loup you head to the east side of Carnethy and battle up through the heather with no helping paths in sight. My legs felt heavy at this point as the leaders pulled away. I had Alistair Smith (Dundee Hawkhill) and Ian McMillan (Porty) for company up the climb but it was soon over.
Over the summit you follow the ridge to the point where the climb of Scald Law starts and take a sharp left turn and head down the path to Charlie's Loup for a sprint across the field. I managed to push on at the summit and pull away from the guys I climbed with, though didn't manage to catch the runners ahead.
At only 5km it's a really short but fun race.
