Druim Fada Chase
Great wee race and a brilliant sunny day for running.
From Loch Eil outward bound centre the route heads straight up the hill through the forest and woods before breaking into open moorland. I kept a steady pace all the way on this soft ground until getting to the forestry road. I had picked my way up the field and had gained 2 more places early on the road. Fantastic views over to Ben Nevis.
The pace on the road was hard going but I was slowly dragging back Donald Paterson. The road was mainly downhill but with an occasional rise, but the real sting in the tail was in the lowers stages; a final hard climb and fire break descent took my lungs and legs to the limits! Donald Paterson sensed I was there and made a bid to lose me in the first break and it worked. With only a ¼ mile of road to go I couldn't get past but made damn sure he kept going to the line. Well pleased with that run and more so when I saw John McRae was only 20secs ahead too.
Lesley had a jolly jog round and enjoyed the views.
