Peebles Gypsy Glen
Last night I was the only Westie, unless there were some stealth Westies wearing other gear, in this wee race which I'd never done before. The race starts at the Gytes Leisure centre in Peebles and finishes in Victoria Park and does not follow the start/finish shown in Chris's map in his website. Great wee race although really fast start battering along and over the river, through the park, and then still over a mile of road before you get to the tracks going up the hill. The track up the hill through woods on the lower slopes is in good nick and is perfectly runnable although not by me as the fast start had taken its toll ......although I held my position from getting off the road to the end although just couldn't get past anybody and stay past them. This race would really suit road and trail runners as it is a real race track with nothing rough whatsoever. Well marshalled and organised by Moorfoots and quite a few people out cheering us along but boy was I glad to finish in the park. Didn't hang around for the prize giving as i had a long drive home but I suspect Alasdair Anthony of Ochils won ......we'll soon know.Posted by Brian Brennan on Thu 19 May 2011 | comments are closed
