Four Westies turned out for the 112th Glasgow Parkrun. Myself, John Quinn and John & Fiona Hutchinson. With 329 runners, this was probably the largest field I've experienced at Pollok Park.

Jogging up to the start line, I immediately spotted 4 faster runners: Jamie Reid and Greg Hastie from Cambuslang, Ross Milne (Central) and Bryan McLelland (Glasgow Uni). I thought I might stand a chance of catching Bryan, but other than that I expected to finish 5th. The race started with the usual downhill stampede. I held back the pace, and it wasn't until the top of the first hill that I gained 5th spot, where I stayed until the end. I appeared to be gaining on Bryan on the first lap, but on the 2nd lap the gap opened up, and I was happy to coast round in 17:41.

Next Westie to finish was John Quinn in a PB of 20:25, followed by John Hutch in 23:27 and Fiona in 26:54. The race was won by Jamie Reid in 16:14. First lady was Alison Winship in a PB equalling 19:51.
