Chatelherault Night Run
AND THEN THERE WERE FIVE
The Southside Three were feeling a bit wee,
So Ken and Keith decided to flee,
From tarmac and concrete,
To traffic-free;
So five we were set off in the dark,
And had lots of fun in Chatelherault Park;
So don't be shy,
And just say aye,
To a run in the dark,
In some far flung park.

.. to the tune of '10 green bottles' .....
Four little westies ran along the river,
one was going too slow and so was all a shiver,
to warm himself up he darted off at speed,
leaving three little westies running along the river.
Three little westies raced to Kelvingrove Park,
one was overloaded and scared of the dark,
she got up to the monument - then collapsed in a heap,
leaving two little westies running round the park.
Two little westies darted through the town....
... and since I was collapsed in the park I have no idea how they got on ... Ellie/JohnH - did you survive the canal?

The canal was dark, and long, and flat. We ran for a while, chatting 'bout this and that. Then Ellie turned off as we passed by her home, leaving John H to run on his own. The rest of the tale is really quite short, as John doesn't live all that far from the course. A nice little run, I won't deny that, but having a few more westies along, especially those of the more poetic inclination, would surely have resulted in a more lyrical end to this race report comment.
