Dunbartonshire Cross Country

Maryhill Park, 27th November 2010

A new competition has emerged from the weekend's snowy cross country ... spot the colour that is not included in Gibbie's thermal leggings! These rainbow leggings and many other thermal togs were donned by us hardy Westies as we braved the chill for the first in the season's trio of individual cross country races.

It didn't stay chilly for long. Men and ladies started together in a bit of a stampede around the snowy track before people spread out and we hurtled and slid down a snow chute hill. The course was ingenious, twisting us round cinder tracks and football pitches before multiple zig-zag lengths of the main field. Dodging some sledging Maryhill-ites kept us on our toes. After two snowy laps for the ladies and 3 (ho ho ho!) laps for the men it was all over. DavidR was first Westie with Sam and Scott close behind. Steffen, Don and John then Gibbie completed the Westies snow-man team. Pauline, Pat and Cat were the Westies snow-ladies.

More fun in the snow next weekend at the West Districts - brrrrrrrrring it on!

Well done folks. Sorry I couldn't make it, otherwise we would have stood a good chance of taking 1st men's team.

I have checked the most recent westie kit list and the multi coloured thermal leggings don't seem to be there. Please order me a pair (medium) when they are available. Well done to David, Sam, Scott & Steffen on our 4th team placing. In spite of fairly deep snow it was fine underfoot and a really invigorating run. Looking forward to Irvine.

I saw you, Don you were definitely there. I think you finished between Steffen and John. Not much help, I know.
