British & Irish Masters Cross Country
Results | Photos | Activity on Garmin Connect
This was my first British & Irish Masters Cross Country, held this year at Santry Park, Dublin.
The 8km route was 5 gruelling laps on grass, mud and more mud, with the M35 race starting last after the women and M50 races had well and truly churned up the course and just as it was starting to rain. I started steadily and went through the first km in 3:30. I passed 3 or 4 of the Scottish runners on the first lap, and then just held position, apart from Ian Johnston of Shettleston who got 3 seconds ahead, and Decan McCarthy of Northern Ireland who pipped me by 1 second right at the end. I was pleased with my run to finish 2nd counter in the M45 team after Alan Derrick of Calderglen.
