Allan Scally Relays Sat 30th Oct

On a fine day for running young Ciaran McDonald and myself turned up for the race which last year was my debut for the westies. We had a 2 man team chat prior to the race and agreed to to run 2 legs each and we duly entered 4 names. Ciaran ran 1st leg but due to being off work ill during the week he decided he had enough and as he crossed the line indicated this with clear sign language. I was under no illusion that he was not up for leg 3. I set off and had a really enjoyable run reeling in quite a few places. An added bonus was meeting my young cousin Joanne McAvoy who was running leg 1 for Calderglen ladies. I hadn't seen her for a number of years and we had a nice chat after the race. Full marks to Ciaran for even considering 2 legs following an illness. Times below

Well done guys for turning out, even when we didn't have a team - stalwarts indeed, in the great W tradition...

Cheers John! It was a great wee run but horrible to do so quickly after a bug. A fine day for running but also good publicity to other young GUH&H-ers for considering a club to join next year. Overall a grand wee social day out!
