Loch Lochy Munros
There were only two Westie representatives at Achnacarry on saturday and i was hoping for a piggy back from manny! It was a very very hot day and amazing views. The track into the forestry was a good warm up..or boil up! Sadly the arrows were facing the wrong way for the descent and a few people went the wrong way initially. I noticed my mistake very quickly and i then decided to get the map out from there on. This race is not marshalled at all so good map reading is essential if your near the back like me and cannot see anyone ahead! A fanatastic run with the first ascent to Sron a Choire Gharbh being sharp and steep. Great underfoot due to the dry conditions. The second climb was also steep but with a rewarding ridge that was very runable..is there such a word! I met one poor soul who had severe cramp so tried to recover him with salted peanuts mixed with jelly babies..it worked i think! The day was amazing and finished with a long plunge in the river and every lady received a bottle of beer to celebrate! What more can you ask for? I would thoroughly recommend this race and the locals were great.

Fantastic Paula, well done. Sounds hot though - maybe I'm ok with all this rain afterall! Will need to practise my map reading I think.
