Glasgow parkrun no.69
17th April 2010
Glasgow parkrun results | Photos from parkrun 69
Had another blast at the Glasgow parkrun, which was no less busy despite the Strathclyde parkrun starting recently. One louder this time for me....but despite a PB, came 22nd instead of 10th as I did 4 weeks ago, as many of the real flyers were out today. Kenny Richmond at the front (15:55), former Westies captain (from back in Nineteen-Canteen) Dave Thom 17 seconds ahead of me, and the ever-present Drew Turnbull further down the field. A noticeably large BRR contingent in evidence today; record turnout of 368. Results show 17:59 for me, only the second Westie to post sub-18 (after Captain Chris).
Will Dave Thom pull on the Westies vest again? Post-race chat suggested it could happen....

Well done J boy, I never managed in my puff to do an 18 min 5k, never mind cracking into the 17's. Just shows what good regular training achieves - nice one!
And keep working on the Thom man, always good to get some classic Westies out again, and hopefully in the hallowed colours...

Thanks John....have been consistent over the winter, but haven't managed to get enough miles in so far this year. Will build it up after I've moved house and hopefully I can knock another chunk off my time in the summer.
Join us for a club run soon?

Good effort Johnston. You're getting dangerously close to my old times now!

Ahem.. I'll dust off the old vest for a parkrun when the weather warms up, mind you it is one of those old 16-tog ones.
I have a little target time in mind for the end of the month as I'm having one of those 'now you are really old' birthdays, please bear this in mind and dont kick my zimmer away as you breeze past in the coming weeks!
(for other oldies I was in the pub the other week with Archie Cameron and Andy Lockhart, on top of Andy Broon turning up at the parkruns, that did make me feel old)

Having burst myself to get sub-18, I don't think I'll be breezing past you any time soon!
