Bar Hill Club Run
A grand turnout of fifteen Westies (and Captain Chris on his bike) enjoyed a trot round the Forth and Clyde Canal and the archaelogical wonders of the Antonine Wall in glorious spring sunshine. Afterwards 12 turned out and curried their hearts out in Kilsyth., including two newbie curry virgins, Paula and Ivan.

Just to heartily recommend this scenic, varied, and not-too-challenging trail to anyone who has not yet sampled its charms! Can I request that this be made a more frequent Westy Wednesday training run? Hoping meanwhile that Dom is not still hopping after his "Wayne Rooney moment", that Chris rediscovers that "two wheels good, four wheels better", and that JD honours his 30 bonus pints promise to me, a 2010 Westy curry virgin, whatever that means!

Having been granted a pass from family duties, this turned out to be a lovely spring evening run with good company and a busy curry afterwards. It was great to be back in the hills with the Westies. Thanks to all for a top evening.

An impressive turn out last night, both for the run and the curry. Nice to see a few new faces, plus some rarely seen old-timers. I enjoyed my thrash around Banton Loch and attempt at cycling up Croy Hill with wheels spinning in the mud. Next week up Earl's Seat could be a good bit more challenging on the bike.

Good turnout, enjoyable route, sunny evening - good fun! And thanks to everyone for the warm Westies welcome for Annmarie and Pamela. Hopefully they'll want to run with us again!

Dave says we've to write more so the world can see what stern stuff Westies are made of, right?
Well here goes on a 6 month trial rant - just say "stop" when you have had enough...or people start leaving the club.
Good to see one of my favourite old trots, along "The Wa'" on Bar & Croy hills from my now distant days in Kilsyth, still alive and well. Mind you, I think I still prefer to be doing runs up the Feshies, or maybe the Monadhliath, or perhaps the Cairngorms, or possibly the Ladders, or the Tromies, or.....etc.
Just the same, it's just not the same without all the broken glass on the footpaths.
Anyway ya shower of currylites, why was there no trip to the "Billy" aka the "The Quarry" aka "The Twechar Inn" or whatever it is called these days - it is a great place for a real ale. It might seen a bit rough round the edges, but the folks are friendly enough, even for Grim, who ought to have known better and led you in the door.
Hail Seizure!!!

we went there last time, but Grimorr was barred for a series of fashion disasters.
