24th October 2009
10 Westies made the effort to travel the short distance to Cumbernauld to take part in the Scottish National Cross Country Relays.

A great championship relay course as usual, helped by a timely break in the stormy weather which made the conditions enjoyable for all! This is a great course for spectators and we all managed to get to about 7 different parts of the trail on the final stage in order to shout words of encouragement at The Snake as he slithered his way past a handful of teams on the glory leg. Johnston also deserves a mention in dispatches for overcoming nausea and a crashing head from his post-exam hangover to do his bit for club and country. All of this is in the finest traditions of the club! We could do with a few more like him; it should be possible to have 5 full teams in this event.
And what's going on with the women's teams Ellie???? Two weeks on the trot and the team selection has been...errr...interesting, to say the least?
I was pleased enough to be back racing, even if I was a teeny bit disappointed that Don wasn't there. I'll get his scalp yet!
Finally, thanks also to Drew for turning out to support the troops!

Ellen - have you been drinking?! Wouldn't catch me doing that...
Dave - thanks for the lift, since I was unfit to drive. I'm pleased to have been able to keep my promise not to barf in your car, although it was a close-run thing as we got to Kildrum.
