Lock 27 Time Trial
5th October 2009
It must be at least 2 years since we last had a Lock 27 Time Trial so seeing as Charlie and Nige were rolling out this old club chestnut I thought I should at least make the effort to turn up. Also present were Pat, Pauline, Helen, Christine, Gibby and Ellie.
After the usual horse trading of handicap times all runners were discharged and I was faced with the seemingly impossible task of catching any of them. It wasn't until the final section of canal when I finally glimpsed Gibby and Ellie, who I just managed to ease past before the line to finish in 16:54 for the 4.6km route.

Flippin eck, this Upson guy is worse than the buses - nothing for ages then five at once.
Spectator's comments as below.
After some of Nigel’s gentle persuasion, a merry little band of seven runners, plus yours truly holding the watch, did descend on the Temple area, also known as Anniesland North (for any BMW drivers amongst the readers). An overcast & cool night didn’t stop the club’s former Legendary Secretary Pat McLaughlin taking over 3 minutes off her previous time and scooping 1st home, closely followed by another three Ladies – well done Pat et al! As for the boys, well Gibby of the Fleming variety has slowed down by a few mins in the last four years since his previous outing, but then again, he’s retired and living the life of ‘Riley’.... And last but not least, our own Cap’n Chris – not only a hill race on Sat and a half Snickers on Sun, but Chrissy boy does this little blast in the 5th fastest Westies time so far – ye just can’t keep a good obsessive compulsive down. Well done to Pat, and the three new debutants of Helen, Pauline, and Christine: Ellie for fastest lady, Gibby for first V60, and Nigel for running / floating supporter and getting us all out there. Roll on cold January…
