Scottish Vets Half Marathon
4th October 2009
I'd never really taken part in any of the Scottish Masters events, so I thought I'd give their Half Marathon a bash.
The race starts at Clydebank, and heads out along the canal towpath for 6.5 miles before turning. Then once you reach the startpoint again you've got about 160 metres to the finish.
I set out fast with Paul Thompson, but after the first mile in 5:39 we both eased off and ran together fairly comfortably until 12 miles at which point Paul started pressing the pace. I held on and at 13 miles we both sprinted for the line to make a bit of race out of it for the time-keepers!

Second road race win of the year, Chris... one for the list of achievements on the About page?
My recent half marathon time would only have got me 7th place in this geriatrics contest, which is a bit worrying! Also concerned that old age begins at 35 (for the wummin at least - is it still 40 for the men?), as I'll be eligible to run this event in the not too distant future! Yikes!
