Earl's Seat club run

12th August 2009

10 Westies turned up, sporting a total of 22 legs. It was a fine evening for the 7.5-mile return journey to Earl's Seat via Dumgoyne, and after the initial shock of the steep climb, a very enjoyable night out. Kudos to Steffen, Stuart, and new boy Buachaille who went for a bonus re-ascent of Dumgoyne on the homeward leg. Captain - the new guy needs a Westies vest, as his white hairy attire will clearly fail a Westies kit check. I would like it to be noted that I was in regulation Westerlands colours, and have witnesses.

Unless my dubious memory is going the same way as my lower back, Earl's Seat was the first Hill run proper I ever did back in 2004 - tempted there by brother Don Johnally from the Glasgow Hash....

I think even Charlie Campbell was running.....

I've added a picture of an old poster for the now-defunct Glengoyne Gallop race. Details of this ex-race are on our Races page, and there is a report with pictures from the last-ever Glengoyne Gallop on the site too. (There's even a report from the 1988 event!)

Click on the poster image to expand it out a bit, then click the wee icon in the top-right of the lightbox to expand it fully. All of the drivel - erm, sorry, information - should then be readable.
