Ben Ledi Grudge Match
19th July 2009
A major fire in Callander caused some chaos and confusion for the 2nd running of the Ben Ledi Grudge Match between Westies, HBT and Ochils. Cars were being abandoned and runners were getting an extra 3-mile warm up. In the end we managed to get started by 2:30pm with 21 runners: 6 Westies, 14 HBT and 1 ringer in a purple vest in the form of Prasad Prasad!
Prasad and Ray Ward hurtled up the first slope in the lead whilst I chased at a distance. Before long the racing snake David Riach eased past, and I was caught by Phil Mowbray at the steep steps. Ray strangely faded away, but David vanished as yellow speck in the distance. I plodded along behind Phil but never quite caught him again. Prasad took a comfortable win in 45:02, and Megan Mowbray was 1st lady in 1:01:32, closely tailed by Ellie in 1:01:46.
The afternoon was rounded off with a social session in The Lade Inn to celebrate Freya Mowbray`s 1st birthday!

...and I think you'll find (watch this space for photographic evidence) that all 6 of us were wearing yellow...even Rogers!!!
Could I reiterate how piffling our turn out was...6 Westies vs 14 Boggies (Prasad is in a league of his own and doesn't count). Shameful.

6 westies is 6 more westies than turned up to the last Westies v HBT grudge match, even then somehow Chris managed to win a lovely HBT colour towel from the event!
Whatever, they say it's quality not quantity that matters so obviously the 6 Westies would have won by a mile on that front!!
