Chapelgill
This was the first round of the Westies summer league and also happens to be my favorite race in the calendar. Unfortunately, not too many westies bothered to come down to enjoy 1800ft climb in 0.9K. However, thats their loss. 47 hardy runners turned up including quite a few really good guys including Prasad Prasad and Brian Marshall. Westies were represented by me, Murdo, David Rodgers (and Helen who ran in the junior race), Deborah Stokoe and Victoria Reid. Dave again made a lightning start but i caught him fairly quickly as the pack spread across the steep hillside. Murdo was next in the Westies pecking order followed by 1st westies woman Deborah, and bringing up the rear Victoria. I dug in really hard on the climb to get away from Gordon Pride and hang on to Russell Anderson of Moorfoot.
The last 150m at the top was a nightmare running into a head wind but the descent was magic. Managed to get three bodies on the way down to finish in 11th place just behind Alistair Anthony and blag the V50 prize. Dave was next Westie to finish, followed by Murdo, Deborah, and Victoria who found Chapelgill quite a shock to the system (its her 1st hill ace for quite some time)! Results on SHR WEBSITE
