Bellahouston 4k Cross Country
25th January 2009
My 4th year in a row at Bellahouston 4k Cross Country, and one hour before the race the weather was looking really grim with freezing cold rain and leaden sky. Luckily it brightened up by 1pm for the main event. The start of this race is unbelievably fast. Almost immediately I felt like I was at the back of the field, slowly trying to make up places, but the ground was so wet and muddy it was really tough to maintain any momentum.
Seeing as I'd raced Legs 2 and 3, and jogged Leg 4 at the Burdens the day before, I was reasonably happy to finish 48th in 15:15 - albeit the first time I've been over 15 minutes, but I'm sure the ground was much soggier than on previous occasions.

Despite not finishing in the top half of the field (48th out of 94 runners), I was only beaten by 2 runners who were older than me - who just happened to be Paul Thompson and Billy Coyle.
