Cumbernauld cross country relays
It should probably have been deemed to wet for the cross-country relays too, but no such luck!! In fact it turned out to be pretty fun running through mentally big puddles, disappearing up to my knees in mud, battling against a ferocious headwind and then being blown crazily down the hills of Cumbernauld. All you ladies who were cosy and dry at home missed a fab run (although Pat may not agree!!).
The men; Don, Gibson, Archie and David R, all seemed to get round well considering the conditions, and there was even rumoured to be a Westies rogue runner (if only Hamilton had told us at the start of the ladies race that he was surplus to the men's requirements, he would have been welcome to be an honorary Westie Ladieee for a day!!)
As for support along the way - by the end it was just me, with feeble, rain dampened, wind blown wimpers of encouragement, cheering on David as he ran (thankfully pretty quickly) round the final lap. Maybe the advertisign mastermind could find time in between making his prestigious range of OMM resistant kit to conjure up a Westies banner, a few black and yellow rattlers, perhaps the odd cheerleader type pom pom???!

Good work Cat & Pat- and thanks for representing the WW. It sounded like a lonely, mucky venture for the four-legged female team...although I have a sneaking suspicion that you get a masochistic kick out of running in such horrid conditions Cat...you always seem to finish grinning. I hope the men weren't too busy sheltering in the tea house, tucking their vests into their thermals to support you both...
