Mugdock Super Dooper Turbo XXX Boost
Well the rain was bouncing off the windows this morning making me wish I hadn't entered it but there was no way I was letting my twenty quid entrance fee go to waste.
The race was advertised at 10 to 12 miles with an X zone of about 1 mile in the middle. (With the prize of a holiday in the sun for the fastest through this section).
The rain didn't let up at the start and we were off - round some of trails that we quite often frequent of a Wednesday evening plus some interesting deviations up firebreaks, through drainage ditches and over the moors. The X zone came about 6miles into the race and to be honest I didn't really make much of an effort to go much faster through this section. (I saw the Mudge skulking round the start line so no chance of a holiday in the sun for me then !) Some more trail and we were back at Mugdock garden centre - my Garmin measured it at 9 miles - it was still chucking it down at this point so I didn't hang about, straight into my wee TOYOTA and off. Time on my watch 1.23.
Goody bag analysis :
Shoe bag RRP £8
Technical T RRP £22
Socks RRP £7
Recovery milkshake thing - One quid ?
Some drinks powders and the like
A cereal bar - 40p
I havn't seen quite so much stuff since the ADVERTISIGN DIRECT International Kaim hill race at the start of the year !
All in all not too bad a thing to do on a very wet Saturday morning.
Although I really should read the winter league list before signing up to these things .....

I thoroughly enjoyed my Saturday morning in Mugdock Park it really helped when it was somewhere I am used to running round. It reminded me of a Westies Wednesday night with Ian and Alasdair taking us round a course through bog and mud and not knowing where you were really going to end up. My kind of race unfortunately not knowing how far it was or when it was going to finish meant no sprint finishes I am afraid Dave!!
