Glasgow Half
This is by far the busiest road race I've ever been to. I started off in the Blue pulse (one behind the "elite" pulse containing Westies racing snake Riach) Having heard tales from previous years of congestion on the Kingston bridge (every night at 5pm ?) I was keen to stay at the front of the blue group. Sir Jimmy waved us all off and I managed to chase down some of the elite stragglers fairly quickly. (The numbers go on the front for next year lads !) The bump that was St Vincent street turned out to be northing more than that and I made good time in the first half of the race. Almost beat my 10k PB so was perhaps over cooking it a bit ? Had to dig deep in the 16-20km mark as this goes into a distance I've never really raced at. Thankfully the finish line came quicker than I was expecting and I finished in a time of 1:39 according to my watch. Still to see the official times. Great to see the town hoaching with runners and supporters.
Cheers Ellie for the shouts of encouragement. How did you get on David ?

Well done Stuart. David clocked 1:17:45, as far as I know.

It's a real Glasgow affair, just leaving your house late, catching a train, seeing more and more people migrating towards the hubbub in George Square, then trailing through the leafy southside parks and streets. I managed to pace things well and not go backwards like other times, though had a slight patch around 8.5 miles where the gap got bigger, before clawing back a few more places, chasing down a Bella boy in the final kilometre. Very pleased to finish in 1:17:45, just under 6min speed and two minutes faster than last year. I hope the finish clock was right, as I forgot to wear the chip. Thanks from me too to Chris, official photographer, and Ellie, official roadside supporter; Ellie even volunteered at the 11mile water station.

Well done Stuart and David, both with PBs. Sounds like it was a good day and the weather stayed nice. Good to see all the training is paying off Snake.

I didn't even notice Chris snapping away ! - Cheers.I couldn't find you in the results David – I thought maybe that was two fingers up at the institution that is mass participation road racing, now I know why.
