Donkey Brae
Blair, I shouldn't be too hard on myself but I was disappointed with my Donkey business. I had nobiody to judge my pace against (except a wee Edinburgh guy they call The Mouse) so I went off too fast on a beautiful (but pretty warm) day. From halfway onwards, I was "going backwards" ie losing places, including The Mouse who passed me about halfway. So my finish time was 52 minutes DEAD, as against 51 mins.7 secs. 2 years ago when the race was 200 yds shorter. I'll try harder next year! (unless I'm roped into a Roon Arran gig).
The Arran gig sounds like a mixed bag. What happened to those great exiles, Brian Bonnyman and Damon Rodwell? Kate J. is some runner (as I realised when she + dug streaked past me near the finish of the Westy handicap last year). But 'Nethy have a totally inCREDIBLE wumman - just check the results for the 2003 Bog Trot where Tracy (?) of 'nethy beat Phil Mowbray!!!
