The Dalmuir 5K(urry)

After much publicising of this race, over the same course for the 2nd year running by the Rt Hon Social Sec, the online pre-entrants consisted of Richard and myself. Assembling at the starting line we had a gentle warm up of popadoms, persuading the marshals to delay the start on the promise of more entrants. Eventually salvation arrived in the form of Drew, Margaret and David, fresh from marshalling some hill race or other just down the road. This was most welcome as Rich was starting to worry he'd have to spend the whole evening listening to my banter. The field of 5 then sprinted straight into the starters - a delightful tussock-filled mix of pakora and tandoori dishes and the it was heads-down for the uphill struggle that was the extensive selection of dishes on offer. A cool-down in the form of ice-cream rounded the event off. I don't recall who crossed the finish first, but it was the taking part that counted. Many thanks to race organiser Stef, whose 7am flight the next day left him unable to attend. But where were all you other entrants?
