Clydebank 10k

After gradually whittling down my 10k times, I finally managed

to break the 40 minute barrier for the first time at the Polaroid

Clydebank 10k last night with a clock time of 39:25. The conditions were ideal with a relatively flat course and no wind to speak of (I had avoided the baked beans beforehand).

Up front, Robert Gilroy was doing well but no match for the 3

Shettleston Eritreans, the winner finishing with an amazing

time of 29:37.

Sorry - that should be a chip time of 39:25 with a gun time of 39:36.

    Well done Bill!

And whilst cheering on Bill I overheard another spectator comment "I haven't seen Chris Upson today, that's unusual, he's usually around at races". Our Captain is legendary!

That's strange... and strangely flattering. I bet those Eritreans are mighty relieved I haven't turned up so far to any of the Polaroid 10ks, despite pre-entering the entire series.

Well done Bill with your first sub 40. I knew you'd get there eventually!

    Good Stuff

Managed to beat my PB at Helensburgh then be incredibly slow at Clydebank - must be all that turning.Hopefully the slowing will not continue into Dumbarton on Thursday (trying to get sub 44, must go 2 seconds faster !). Didn't see any westies W's, will keep an eye out on Thursday.

Chris - at least you get a decent T shirt this year for your cash !

Well done Bill. Under 30 is an important milestone which I haven't reached yet. You are getting some good road results this year.

    Thanks everyone for your comments.

Jason - I'm sure a sub 40 is within your grasp. A sub 30 might be a tad more challenging, but I like a man who sets his sights high!

Jason - I'm pretty sure that Robert Gilroy hasn't reached sub 30 yet either, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. You are probably better off concentrating on that sub 4 minute mile.
