"BAAHOOOOO!We're Goats of Arran"(sorry)
I think it was just as well that Goatfell was shrouded in cloud, being unable to see further than 30 metres allowed me to convince myself that the summit was"just 31 more metres"away.Following in Graham Kelly's wake I finally conquered the"Hill"and began to descend like a falling monster "whaaaargh!!!!"I somehow managed to survive and overhaul a handful of runners in the process (including Mr Kelly) four of whom (including Mr Kelly) got their revenge on the flatter road section, where my supernatural goatlike powers wore off,BA(AA)H!All in all fantastic experience which I rather inexplicably rounded off by asking Graham and his pal Joe if they would like some chewing gum while proffering a large bar of Fruit and Nut chocolate.Oh how we laughed...I put it down to some residual goat-possession brain activity, actually quite common.

Great work guys, and another amusing report, Craig! Sorry I missed it (having registered to do it), my health has been a bit duff, but I'm on the mend and I'll see you at a club run or race soon.

Cannae beleive Ive niver done this race before ...it is a topper !
Getting a boat to an island is always special - with beans and toast and a mug of tea ..extra special.
Bumped into Craig taking shelter from the light drizzle. Had a brief pointless internal debate about what to wear (pointless since I only had a vest with me anyway).
The road section at the start has all the makings of a disaster. Far too tempting to think you are in a road race and trash yourself before the real thing begins. Stayed close to Craig along the road and decided that to make up for my lack of descending abilty a push to the summit was in order. Topped out in just over 56 minutes and began the run / trip / regain balance downhill thingy. Passed Craig and realised it would not be long until he was passing me again. Braking out the cloud revealed great view back to Brodick.
By the time I reached the forest the legs were getting a little on the heavy side ...perfect for the return to tarmac.
As you can probably tell from the chewing gum / chocolate incident ...the post race chat was good ...but you would have to have been there !
Cheers for Craig for the sport on the hill and laughs after.
Roll on Jura next weekend :-)
Cheers fir noo ...

Well done Graham and Craig.Goatfell is a fun trippy race with a fast descent.David & I saw the remaining markers in the forest at just after midnight on Sunday morning with a big silvery moon casting hazy shadows.
