Chatelherault Handicap
16th April 2008
The first of the 'summer' club handicaps was on a bitterly cold evening at Chatelherault Country Park. An accurately marked course by JD and Drew meant that nobody got lost this time on the 6 mile figure of 8 loop that contains 3 tough climbs after White and Green bridges.
13 runners completed the course, with Simon Triger first man home in 45:11. Fastest runner on the night was David Riach in 41:24, knocking 36 seconds off his time from last year. Cat Miller was fastest lady in 53:46.

Slower than last year? Surely not! And I ran all the uphills too!
I blame the bellowing of the moose for putting me off...they must have escaped from the highlands... or was it the war-cry of Mr Upson in full flow?
Thanks to the markers and timers. Great to see dt back again. Also amazed that Graham even wanted to run after the MdS, and ran a great time too! Well done all.

Sorry about the bellowing! I was just trying to my lazy dead legs working again, after that climb from Green Bridge, and sometimes a bit of shouting at them helps.

Well done one and all on a cold night. I was shocked to see GK in the results, don't you think you have earned a rest man. Good to see you haven't given up there Chris. I am afraid I was on dog duty and couldnt get back there in time. See you soon.

Thanks Jason. There was a reduced turn-out compared with last year, but it was blummin freezing, which might have kept a few folk away. Special credit once again go to Drew and Margaret for braving the bitterly cold conditions, and looking after time-keeping, handicapping and marking the course. Hopefully we'll have a good turn-out for Whangie Whizz next Wednesday.

Came out to do a bit of cycling with Karen, and also some spectating and socialsing but as usual timecales went a bit awry. Cycling took precedence and by the time we'd finished everyone was gone home, understandably. Saw plenty of interesting birdlife, including a small number of a variety of yellow-vested westies. Everyone looked as if they were enjoying themselves, I'm glad to say. Shame about the numbers; it was a beautifule night. Cycling back through the woods in semi-darkness with the moon starting to light the way was wonderful.
