Forfar Multi-Terrain Half Marathon
3rd February 2008
Early morning torrential rain abated to give a fine run along the roads and trails around Forfar. The "multi-terrain" challenges included slippy muddy fields, umpteen gates to open and close, huge muddy puddles, and one fairly long section of knee-deep icy cold water.
I battled along with James Britton of Moorfoots in 2nd/3rd place, after giving up trying to stay with local runner Craig Stewart who opened up an early lead. Craig was never challenged, and won in 1:19. James finished second in 1:21, and I was about 20 seconds adrift in 1:21:59 to finish 3rd. Ellie had a strong run to finish as 4th lady in 1:34:12.

Thanks Drew. I just wanted to add that the "one fairly long section of knee-deep icy cold water" was acutally thigh deep for the more vertically challenged!

Hello, I ran the forfar half and i'm a bit disappointed that the forfar roadrunners web page has not been updated.
Also when we came down from the hill there was someone taking photos. Can anyone tell me where i can get access to these photos.
I would also like to put a kinder note to the race in that i thoroughly enjoyed it, being my first multi-terrain event and i will be recommending this to my fellow group runners for next year.
Regards

Hi Christine,Thanks for your comment. The photographer on the course was Alan Young.I'll add a link to his photos, if I can persuade him to upload them to the Scottish Hill Runners Flickr site.

Hi Christine,
I am glad you enjoyed the race and hope more of your fellow runners take the chance to run in the event next year.
As you will appreciate organising any running event requires the dedication of a number of people. The organiser of the event is an unusually busy person and this may be why the website has not been updated. However, if it were not for him and a few other people this race would not happen. Though frustrating, I think we often expect too much of organisers these days.
See you all in 2009!!
