Callander Crags, 5th January 2008

Andy and I braved the snow and driving rain for a relatively short up and down race up at Callander. We arrived an hour before everyone else - (misunderstood the meaning of noon) and sat shivering in the car. Anyway 64 runners eventually turned up to run the course. A steep start spread out the runners - Andy tells me he was third at the top - I can't verify this as I was having my own battles with some super vets! Once on top, the descent had added excitement due to the 1/2 foot of snow overlying mud and rocks. All went well until 2 min from the end on the easiest bit of the course when a marshall shouted out to watch out for slippery wood steps - at which point I tripped over nothing, finishing with two red streaks down my legs. We don't have the full results but Andy was 6th in 27.10 mins, and Jenny was 4th female in 33 mins. Prasad Prasad romped home to win in 24min. Photo uploaded.

Well done Jenny (& Andy)! No bad at all!Sounds like perfect training for the Burdens relay - especially the bloody legs! I have a similarly nasty habit of stumbling over thin air and landing on the wrong bits of my body when momentarily distracted. I guess it's all in the name of fun!

Nice going you two, good photo too, I like the red streaks and the Big 'W' hat. They say you should start the year the way you mean to go on, so both of you had top ten finishes!
