Nigel Barge 10k
5th January 2008
Fairly grim cold rainy weather at Garscube for the Nigel Barge Memorial 10k, with a bracing torrential downpour during the 2nd lap.
I spent most of the race jostling with John McMillan and Jeff Farquhar, before giving up for the last 2km. Four other Westies ran - Tom, Hamilton, Ellie and Matthew. Ellie's lack of haemoglobin from blood donating less than 48 hours earlier meant she clocked a disappointing PW, and looked very unwell as she finished.
1. Chris Mackay, 30:43
18. Chris Upson, 35:17
35. Tom Smith, 38:06
90. Hamilton Semple, 42:20
110. Ellen Homewood, 44:11
117. Matthew Bull, 44:50
250 runners

well done to you all...Ellie, blood donation then running - is this an attempt to mimick altitude training (just not enough oxygen getting to the muscles) without the travel?

Nah...nothing so ambitious, I was just being a bit of a daft-forgetful-wally...really must get one of those hats!
