Cambuslang Down by the River 10k
Ditched the wig and inflatable pink guitar for this one.
The course is flat, but not exactly scenic, being an out-and-back on the Clyde walkway. Maybe the old Hoover factory counts as an industrial relic.
I think I was the only Westerlands runner, accompanied by potential new Westie (and winner of yesterday's handicap) Andy Mott, and cheered on by Westie of the Year, Drew.
Good conditions for running, so I set a 5k PB of 19.05 on the way out before returning more conservatively at just over 4min/km to finish close to my 10k PB. Time was roughly a minute faster than Ayr 4 days ago - I wasn't joking when I said it was really windy there! Seemed like a much smaller field today too.
Full results to follow. Pleased to be back in fairly good form.

Results are now online here.
The race was won by Iain Reid of Cambuslang in 32:11, followed by Kenny Richmond of BRR in 32:41. First female was Clerc Koenck of Pitreavie in 36:29.
My time was 39:15, just 4 seconds away from my PB, with Andy Mott finishing in 46:55. I blame the beer I had the night before.
That concludes my first calendar year of racing with my 31st race (plus 3 club handicaps) - not even a half-Upson of races! I completed 12 hill races, 3 trail races, 1 marathon, 2 half-marathons, ten 10ks, a 5k, a cross-country and a 12.5k race.
Bring on 2008!

Well done Johnston. You've set yourself a nice line up of PBs to beat in 2008.
I clocked my 85th race of 2007 at Leyland 10k on Boxing Day, and got off the mark today at Portobello Prom with a PB of 21:39 for the 4-miler New Year's Day race.
