Evans Pass Run Over 28/11/07

An 8k evening trail race rising to about 250-300m I think. It started beside the beach at Sumner (a suburb of Christchurch, NZ) and stayed mostly on road then trails heading up onto the side of the Port Hills (part of an ancient crater rim on the Banks Peninsula). This was the third race of a 3 race series organised by Frontrunner which get similar entries to Bog and Burn races. The weather was sunny but not too hot so ideal. My preparation however was not ideal having not run at all for 2 months followed by 2 runs within 84 hours of the race leaving me with stiff legs. Robert Monro (Shettleston) was there and disappeared into the distance early on. You fly 11000 miles and still get beaten by one of them! I'm not sure what position I finished but somewhere in the middle of the field.

Well done Luke. I hope things are going well in NZ, and keep us posted on your hill running exploits. Have you bagged the antipodean Ben Lomond yet?
