Jedburgh Half Marathon Sun. 28 October,2007
Instead of arriving with the customary 2 mins. to the off (Trevor - you must have been taking on some bad habits), went to the other extreme -arrived with approx. 20 hrs. to go. Yes, thought I'd take in the sights of the Borders before & after the race. After, see below. Before, well the sights included the gals in their fancy dress costumes for their hen night-we had one or two Miss Cruellas' and goodness knows what else. They seemed in fine spirits. On to the B&B which was actually a Riding Stables as well, 11 horses, Oi can you keep awake at the back there. Yes, we'll get there eventually. So much for the intro. what about the performance?
Well I never, who said it would be a good idea to do " a road race".
Utter, utter pain. Joint pain from all that tarmac-still gimping around.
Well was warned about the "undulating " course not to say hilly, and
of course an all mothers& fathers of a climb at mile 10-11. So no excuses,no energy either. Hey ho. What's that- take up drinking-you might have something there.
Bright blue skies, very sunny, showing Jedburgh at it's finest, great running conditions.
One thing that Bill Fisher, absolutely superlative, runner,if you can run with him... he even came in placed 118 and had no. 118 on his
chest, how does he do it. A genius.
So, after the above pain, time to re-fuel, then off to the coast, the Northumberland coast, that would be Bamburgh then. The village of Bamburgh was'nt that far, a view of the Castle as you approach, walk(try) along the white sands,up to the fine golf course.
Marvellous. Also,on the drive back an enormous golden full moon.
1. Robert Russell 1.07 Central AC
2. Chris Mackay 1.11
3. Mattew Bell 1.12 Edin. AC
Ladies Race
1. Helen Lawrence 1.20
2. Jill Knowles 1.22
118 Bill Fisher 1.34
537 Finished, should have been around 700 entries.

You've disguised yourself well in the results, Hamilton - I can't find your time! (Unless you finished 176th under the name of "Ivanna Runfaster").

Should have been in the name of "Mustapha Dobetter",or really Bill, as in Mr. Bill Fisher. Yes,had to be really.

Well done Hamilton! Glad you enjoyed the race and found that long hilly stretch after mile 10 just as tiring as I did when I ran last year. Did you sit on something spikey to give you that enormous golden full moon on the drive back ;-)
