Great Scottish Run 10k
From the start:-
Hordes of people. Over-excited DJs. Sir Jimmy Saville! The Kingston Bridge without traffic. Pipers at every kilometer. Leafy suburbs of the Southside. Asian radio stations and bhangra music, with live drummers. Pipers again. Multicultural! Homewards, towards the Gorbals. Glasgow Green. More over-excited DJs. Finish. Bag of goodies.
After a hard week of racing and a 90-minute run yesterday, I just wanted to enjoy the atmosphere today and it was fantastic. Sticking to less than 90% HR max, I clocked a very satisfactory 40:36 or thereabouts. That would have been my PB back in May, so I'm delighted with progress. Also pleased to report that my girlfriend completed her first-ever 10k today too.
This race had more Sir Jimmy Saville than any other race I've run in. And that has to be a good thing.

Well done Johmstone,Yes, a fine day out again,at the Half. Dodging many runners. Westies contingent from this side of the city included Ian,Sally,Gavin and myself, joined by Jacques,Graeme,David R, and Graham Kelly who quite outrageously claimed to be there "for a social" after the Ben yesterday. Well heaven help us all-just a mere training run out for Graham, as we were knocking our pan out,Graham was nonchalantly chatting away as he sped down the course. Hope hav'nt forgotten anyone. Ahh. Dinner's ready-must go. Jacques had a fine run,and David had a superb run-1.20. Well done that man. Did'nt see anyone else at the end,(obviously) . So now for some post-race training at The Rock tonight. Anyone up for it? I'll e-mail now. 7.30.

Results:10kHalf-marathon
Quite surprised to find my chip time about 13 seconds slower than my watch time, but it doesn't really matter on a day when time took second place to sheer enjoyment.

I beg to differ the less Sir Jimmy Saville the better, he is an extremely arrogant man.I come acroos him in races before.
