isle of mull half marathon

DavidR, Bill and I headed off to the Isle of Mull for the half marathon. It was a lovely route along the coast road and although generally flat with great views of the hills of Morvern peninsula and the seals bobbing in the Sound of Mull, near the end even the slightest incline felt like we'd been diverted up Ben More and the views were a getting a bit blurry! DavidR was out of sight from the start and finished 4th overall in 1hr21mins, incredibly fast for "just a Sunday run". Bill also flew off at the start and was speck on the horizon for 10 miles. However, the magic muscle weakening powders I'd put in his Powerade then started taking effect and, with a quick blast from the wee rockets in my trainers, I managed to edge past him. We finished in 1hr34mins and 1hr37mins respectively and Bill immediately began plotting his revenge.... A great weekend away, maybe this road running isn't so bad!

Yes, Cat's muscle weaking powders and rocket-propelled trainers were just too much for me after the 10-mile mark. Those trainers must be pretty good right enough for her to knock a whopping 24 minutes off her half marathon PB. David did very well coming in 4th and I'm sure it won't be too long before he gets under 1:20. I need to get back to the drawing board if I want to reach my goal of getting under 1:30. Perhaps I'll start with some magical muscle strengthening powders...

Those pernicious powders must still be in my system working away at my brain since I can't even seem to spell 'weakening' properly!
